SpaceX, or Space Exploration Technologies Corp., is an American aerospace manufacturer and space transportation company founded in 2002 by Elon Musk. The company designs, manufactures, and launches advanced rockets and spacecraft with the goal of reducing space transportation costs and enabling the colonization of Mars. SpaceX is known for its development of the Falcon 1, Falcon 9, and Falcon Heavy launch vehicles, as well as the Dragon spacecraft, which transports cargo and crew to the International Space Station (ISS). The company has achieved significant milestones, including the first privately-funded spacecraft to reach orbit, the first privately-funded spacecraft to dock with the ISS, and the first privately-funded human spaceflight. SpaceX is also actively developing the Starship spacecraft for missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
