Space Junk
Space junk, also known as space debris, refers to defunct man-made objects in orbit around the Earth. This includes non-functional satellites, spent rocket stages, fragments from collisions or explosions, and various other discarded materials originating from space missions. Space junk poses a significant risk to operational satellites, spacecraft, and the International Space Station, as even small pieces traveling at high velocities can cause serious damage upon collision. The accumulation of space debris is a growing concern among scientists and space agencies, leading to ongoing discussions about space traffic management, debris removal initiatives, and the implementation of measures to minimize the creation of additional debris in Earth's orbit.
